Lorna Magill, a native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, graduated from the University of New Mexico and received her Bachelors of Business Administration, with a concentration in accounting, from the University of New Mexico.
Upon graduation, she accepted a position with a government public accounting firm in Albuquerque, in which she was involved in auditing the Bureau of Indian Affairs Oil and Gas royalties, and eventually relocated to the Northern Virginia office to continue auditing government entities. Thereafter, she accepted a position with a regional public accounting firm and expanded her knowledge to auditing commercial businesses. She went on to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the State of Virginia, and began working as the Assistant Controller for a publishing company. In 1996 Lorna became the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of an information technology company, and assumed a strategic role in the overall management of the company. She directed and oversaw all aspects of the Finance and Accounting functions of the company. She was responsible for managing all accounting functions in the business, investigating financing options, handling internal financial management, budgeting and implementing cost controls and procedures, and implementing operating efficiencies that ultimately saved the company a substantial amount of money. Ms. Magill has expertise in working with small businesses to optimize profits and efficiencies, and has been responsible for managing in excess of $50M in revenue for her combined clientele.
Ms. Magill has over 20 years of combined experience in the public and private sector. She has worked in a variety of industries including government, real estate, construction, publishing, healthcare, legal and information technology. Lorna is a member of the AICPA, VSCPA and the Battlefield Chapter of the VSCPA.
Ms. Magill lives in Warrenton, Virginia with her husband, and three sons. She enjoys running, skiing, reading and spending time watching her sons play sports.
